How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV

A complete walkthrough for getting TV Brit running on your Android TV, from your very first settings change through to your first channel. Takes about ten minutes.

What You’ll Need
โœ“ Any Android TV device, including Android TV boxes, Google TV and Android TV built into your television
โœ“ A stable internet connection, 25 Mbps or more recommended for HD/4K
โœ“ Your TV Brit access details, sent after you message us on WhatsApp
โœ“ About 10 minutes

Step 1: Enable Apps from Unknown Sources

Android TV blocks apps installed outside the Google Play Store by default. To install an IPTV player, you need to turn this off first.

1. From the Android TV home screen, go to Settings
2. Select Device Preferences (or Apps, depending on your device)
3. Select Security & Restrictions (sometimes labelled Unknown Sources)
4. Turn on Unknown Sources, allowing it for the Downloader app
5. Confirm when prompted

Step 2: Install the Downloader App

Downloader is a free, well-known app that lets you install other apps by entering a web address. It’s the standard way to get an IPTV player onto an Android TV device.

1. From the home screen, open the Google Play Store or the Find / search icon
2. Search for Downloader
3. Select it and choose Install
4. Wait for it to install, then open it

Step 3: Install Your IPTV Player

Once you message us on WhatsApp, we’ll send you the exact app and web address to enter in Downloader, along with your access details, so this step is quick.

1. In Downloader, select the address bar
2. Enter the web address we send you
3. Select Go and wait for the download
4. Select Install, then Open

Step 4: Enter Your Details and Start Watching

The last step is loading your channels.

1. Open the IPTV player app
2. Enter the access details we sent you
3. Wait a moment for the channel list to load
4. Browse the guide and pick a channel, you’re live

If Something Doesn’t Work

“Unknown Sources” option missing: the menu path varies slightly by manufacturer, check under Apps or Personal instead of Device Preferences.
Downloader won’t find the address: double check you’ve typed it exactly as sent, including any numbers.
Channels buffer or freeze: see our buffering troubleshooting guide.
Still stuck? Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll walk through it with you directly.

Common Questions

Is enabling Unknown Sources safe on Android TV?
Yes, it’s a standard Android TV setting used to install any app not listed in the Google Play Store. It doesn’t compromise your device’s security on its own.
Do I need to repeat this setup after a software update?
No, your app and settings stay in place through most updates. Occasionally a major update resets your security settings, in which case just repeat Step 1.
Can I follow these same steps on any Android TV box or Google TV device?
Yes, the process is nearly identical across brands, only the exact menu wording changes slightly. As a leading IPTV Subscription UK provider, TV Brit works smoothly across virtually every Android TV and Google TV device on the market.
What if I don’t have Android TV, just a regular Smart TV?
See our separate Smart TV setup guide instead, no Android TV needed.
